Life
Someone commented today that they feared I'd been swallowed up by marriage. If something has swallowed me, it's work. Or life in general. My attempts to move toward being present where I am have meant there are places I am now equally absent. That's hard. But I think I still prefer it to being continually distracted and present with noone.

September/October book list
10. The Maytrees by Annie Dillard: Five stars. No, wait, six. The prose in this book is some of the most beautiful I've ever had the privilege to read. The story is set in Cape Cod, for the most part, and the description transports you there. The characters are not exactly like real people you'd meet, but they evoke so much that you really feel. 8. In Her Shoes by Jennifer Weiner: OK, this one got better. I still like Good in Bed more, but I have to admit there were some really nice girl-power moments here. An easy read and I keep going back for more.

So, even though our "busy" time isn't supposed to start for a couple more weeks, today and yesterday have been off-the-hook at work.
