That is honestly what I usually end up doing, but I figured that since I didn't have anything else I *had* to do at the event, it would be a good opportunity to do a lot of things from scratch. One of the things I'm trying to wrap my head around is that many people in the medieval era just didn't eat that much meat. I'm so used to animal protein being a cornerstone of my meals that spoilage is a huge concern...right up until I remember I can make an amazing pottage from things that take several days to "go bad" even in hot weather.
I am glad I got to spend a little time with you! I think it very likely we will do it again, because it was such a positive experience for everyone and what a great turnout, too!
