I was one precocious (not to mention precious!) nine year old. I wish I still had some of that paper--I'm back living at the same address now.
As for the air car, I'm sure I wanted one but by that age, after receiving my thin plastic "book safe," I learned that most of the time when things seem too good to be true, they are.

1988 was a good year. I doubt I had much money though--the bulk of my income came from the 10 cents change my parents let me keep after buying my school lunch.
