We were speaking in my women's studies class the other day about why we think a lot of third wave feminists aren't concerned with abortion rights, and my professor said she thinks it is because we can't fathom that right being taken away from us. We have lived our entire lives with that right, so we don't think it will be taken away. Alas! A ban ( Read more... )

Will you no longer reside in Chicago when you graduate?

I will not reside in Chicago after graduation since I do not have a job lined up. Its sad, but mostly just because I have to go back to Zanesville. Other than that I'm really ok with leaving Chicago.

I was hoping you would still be in Chicago so that I could come visit you when I'm out there for Lollapalooza. But I suppose I could come visit you in Zanesville... since it's like 4 hours closer.

Zanesville is closer, but visiting me in Chicago would have been way cooler!
I was thinking about going to Lollapalooza this year, but I don't have the money and Pearl Jam is really the only band I want to see so I decided not to.
Also, totally random, but I reserved my copy of the newest Harry Potter at The Book Loft with Toni. If you haven't already reserved yours you should do so there. Its somewhere in Columbus... I don't know where but Toni does so you can ask her if you don't know!

not only was that right taken away, there's no exception for when the health of the mother is at stake! this is supposedly because there's "never a need for it." who are they to say that!? i don't believe it for a second. plus i hate that the general public uses the term "partial birth abortion" because it isn't real. medically it's called an "intact dilation and evacuation" as opposed to a regular abortion - "dilation and evacuation."

i think a lot of women who get late-term abortions do so because they aren't able to afford the abortion when they first find out they're pregnant. they need to save up the money. which wouldn't be a problem if health insurance covered it, or even if they had cheap access to birth control. most insurance companies don't cover bc, though those that don't still typically cover viagra. strange how much easier it is for men to have sex without consequences.

i love you, i need more feminists in my life.
