nonono - you did very well! a long as she knows you have a girlfriend, and aren't secretly pining to be the policeman from the village people (notthattheresanythingwrongwiththat!), then everything's ok. are there any more like you at home?!?

I think it's fine - as long as you sounded approving of the fact that it was an Ann, which you did with the "nice shirt" comment. Director woman is probably impressed by your, er, sophisticated knowledge of women's fashion. :)

I think someone who has on a sirt from a 'respectable' brand would probably be secretly pleased that her good taste in clothes hasn't passed unnoticed :)

*laugh* I think that would fall under the category of - what was it that my mum used to nag me about - "If you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all."

Also, I'd be more than a little unsettled if I heard that from a guy I knew to be straight :P

so i gather she's never met your girlfriend then? i've never heard of ann taylor, but at long as she has a good opinion of what your girlfriend is like/dressing, etc, she should be pretty pleased with the comparison. don't worry too much. :P
