I just read somewhere someone saying that music should be free...

WHAT THE FUCK DOES THAT MEAN?!?! I just bounced a rent check and might be evicted tomorrow... Music should be free? How the hell am I supposed to survive, then?

Didn't you know that all musicians(including yourself) are either independently wealthy or androids which do not require food, shelter or anything else besides the gratitude of music lovers? ;P

It might be (hard to say, with no context) the gratis/libre debate. I tend to agree that it should indeed be free, as in unencumbered by DRM that prevents me from valid uses, such as giving or reselling my CD or sound file to someone else (and not keeping a copy of it), or transferring it to a new computer, to a portable player (which may involve converting it to a different format), or to backup storage. I don't agree that you should allow everyone, or even anyone, to use yours without paying you. (You shouldn't be prevented from giving it away either - it's your decision, either way.)
