Room 522, Wednesday Midday

The good thing about only having classes of the non-independent-study variety on Mondays was that all the rest of the week Stephanie could stay out really late, crash early in the morning, and then not have to worry about sleeping through her alarm and doing a credible impression of the Caritas zombies (sans the far too detachable everything) ( Read more... )

Stephanie had really lucked out with Jeremy as her roomie, hadn't she? She could've easily been stuck with someone who was irritated by the hours she kept, and instead she had him and his fondness for staying up late (though it was generally watching movies and playing video games, and not stakeouts) and sleeping in.

Yeah, he was only coming back from his shower-and-breakfast run now, a plate of foodstuffs in his hand. "Want a croissant?"

Stephanie looked up from a particularly eye-crossing paragraph about ligaments and -- after smothering a yawn -- grinned.

"Oh my god, you're a lifesaver. I'm starving," she said gratefully. (Not just grateful for the food, by the way; she'd heard about the complaints from Tim's roommate at boarding school and did appreciate the lack of complaint for her weird schedule.) "Have I missed anything interesting this morning so far?"

"I almost dropped my soap in the shower?" Jeremy offered as he came closer to hold his plate out for her. It had a couple of croissants, two donuts, and some cookies. Jeremy Darling knew a healthy breakfast when he saw it - and steered as clear of it as he possibly could. "Other than that, nothing I've noticed."

Which wasn't saying much.

Stephanie knew a healthy breakfast, too -- hard not to with a mother in the medical field -- but food at the Brown household had been prioritized more around what was affordable.

"Good," she said, and made a little ooo sound as she snagged a cookie along with the croissant. "After the insanity with the mushrooms and pipes, the least we could get is a few days of quiet."

Truthfully she liked it better when it was exciting, but she was trying to cultivate a separate civilian persona here!

Prom was this weekend and Tony had been reliably informed by Rhodey that if he didn't ask Stephanie to it, he would probably be harmed in some way.

Since he was Tony Stark, we all know that would somehow end with him in a wheelchair. It was just canon, okay?

So, there he was. Knocking on her door.

Yeah, there could have been a brick to the face involved, but since he was knocking on the door, no masonry would be used for harm tonight.

Not by her, anyway.

"Hey, Tony," Stephanie said, leaning against the doorframe. "Anything I can help you with tonight?"

Like some butt-kicking by any chance? Maybe? No?

Damn you and your bricking people, Steph!

Tony had to think about it for a moment. "I was wondering, actually, if you were doing anything Friday."

Stephanie, don't tease the socially-awkward boy.

"I was thinking of doing my hair, actually," she replied.

Let's see how long before I laugh, shall we?
