I'm sorry you have to deal with this. My dad thinks what killed my grandpa was that he decided to go out and shovel snow ... with a heart condition, a bad back, and diabetes and at 89 years old. I can understand the drive to maintain independence, but sometimes, the most independent people are the ones who learn to depend on someone every once in a while.
Yeah. I totally get it. Supposedly my mother is going to try to walk outside. She can't and I'm waiting for her to go splat. She refuses to learn to use the wheelchair and it's going to be the death of her...literally. Oh well. Not much to do but wait and see.
It's actually a new perspective I saw here...we all strive to be independent but then once in a while it's okay to let people help you..I'll remember that..it's a pleasure reading you and glad that you are here..:)
Thanks so much. There is such a thing as interdependence. We all need to depend on someone sometimes. To be totally independent isn't possible unless you live on a desert island! Thanks so much for reading and your comments!
I can soooooooo related to this. (See my "ride your back") entry. I also hesitated to use it, but, ads you said, Hedy, it's reality. This aging parents/sandwich generation thing is tough. Hugs. AW
