Today Dan and I had to get out of the house and away from base so we went to check out a possible field trip place.  We drove up to Hiroshima to see the insectarium.  It was a lot colder then we expected.

We came home to a spectacular garden!  It doesn't even look like our garden anymore.  Everything is huge!  Maybe we should have planted our stuff further apart :)

There is something about coming home after a long vacation that makes your life seem to be in complete disarray!  Even though we left our house clean, once we got home it was a disaster!

We have had lots and lots of rain in Iwakuni lately and the weeds have been out of control.  What can I say- it's hard to weed in the rain.  Our garden was getting a little overrun so we needed a plan before our trip to the States.

We received our seeds yesterday from Burpee.com and planted the rest of our garden plot.  Last night we made one last little row for yellow squash and broccoli and a wide row for cucumbers and spaghetti squash.  Today we went out early and weeded and tilled the rest of the area:

We have a beautiful, red tomato that is ready to be eaten.  Apparently we are growing cherry tomatoes on our balcony :)  Life's an adventure and I never know what we are really growing until it's ready to harvest.

This morning Daniel and I went to a Japanese Kindergarten.  It was crazy.  We walk in and the kids are all in this room sitting in perfect rows very silently.  Then we started playing games and the kids got wilder and wilder.  We hopped, skipped, walked, danced, and frog jumped around the room and when the music stopped we had to get into groups of ( Read more... )

We walked out to the garden today and noticed tons of sprouts everywhere.  We had corn, beans, and squashes growing, as well as weeds :)

We put up an adorable white picket fence around our garden.  We bought all the panels they had at Nafco and next weekend we will go back to see if they have move so we can make it all the way around the garden.  Today we had a nice rain in the morning so we didn't have to water... but we still weed everyday since there are loads and loads of weeds ( Read more... )

We harvested some really yummy bush beans today.  They are getting so big and long and tasty.  I enjoyed eating them and am really glad we have a big row of them growing out in our ground garden.
