OK so the one handed typing version is I have gallstones and need surgery for that. I had a gallstone get stuck in my bile duct while in Kalamazoo. It was massively painful. I ended up in the ER Sunday night and missed my flight home on Monday. We finally made it home late Thursday night after I had an endoscopic procedure to remove the stuck stone ( Read more... )

Yeah. Apparently it's really common for women to develop gallstones during pregnancy. Also pregnancy is why women get osteoporosis. Will my body ever be normal again!?

It's weird. I've heard from some people that they went back to normal eating right away and some people, years after the surgery, still have an affected diet.

Also, I'm afraid of surgery. Just getting the endoscopic procedure and being put under full anesthesia was scary enough. Actually, the 40 minute long MRI was pretty scary, too. It creates a bit of a panic response in me, and I'm not much of a spazzbot usually.

After getting this surgery I'll happily never see the inside of a hospital again, outside of the delivery area.

1. I'm really sorry it was so painful. :( On the other hand at least...now you know what the problem is? And can get it fixed.
2. Surgery IS really scary, even for a relatively common procedure. There's no getting around that. And MRIs are also scary from what I understand. Harry hates having them done. But at least once it's out you shouldn't ever need that particular surgery again!
3. I have no helpful gallbladder related tips or insider info, but if you have to change your diet for some reason, I will change with you in solidarity!
