Not Really a Poll - Hair

Mar 12, 2008 21:09

My hair has been a tangled mess the last couple of weeks, so I just cut it. It doesn't look any better, but hey - less tangled.

Therefore, in an effort to avoid doing my homework, we have another

Question: Do you cut your own hair?

*hysterical laughter* Coincidentally, I have a salon appt tomorrow night. I go every few months, I guess, whenever it gets to the point that I can't take it any more.

I guess I'm somewhere in between -Eh - I'm used to it by now, and it's less work than shaving my head. and If I could trade it back in, I so would. The color is horrible, which is why I dye it, but I suspect most of my problems with my hair stems from the fact that I have a complete lack of talent to be able to DO anything with it. So I kind of always think it looks like crap.

Dyeing, blow drying, that qualifies as work, my friend. OTOH, the reason for the state of my hair is becoming more and more clear to me.

Question: Do you cut your own hair?

-I get a professional cut about three times a year. My hair IS a mess, and I cut it a lot when I was in high school, but now I really try to find someone who can fashion the curlz. My current hairdresser is the best I've ever had and thanks to her, I've been able to keep growing and growing without getting frustrated (a lock of hair reached the top of my bra strap the other day - a real milestone!)

I --Love my hair and wouldn't trade with anyone for anything.

I didn't always love it. I used to hate it (who didn't hate their hair?). But now I am happy with it for a number of reasons.
* it's distinctive, both in curl and in color
* the premature white streak is fun
* it's inherited from my late grandmother and I am proud to share the same hair genes as she had
* it really requires almost no work at all.
* now that it's long, it really does keep my head warm in winter.

Could email me the name of name and location of your hairdresser? My niece has your same hair and lives in your area and is always looking for someone good to cut it.

NO WAY would I cut my own hair or let someone do it who hasn'tbeen to school for that. I have enough trouble getting myself to allow it to be cut at all. I mean, I am not lisa level crazy about it, but I do like it long, and I do get it trimmed about an inch every two or three months.

And I love my hair. I wish it was thicker, like Meg's, but it isn't, and I wouldn't really know what to do with it if it WAS thicker.

I haven't cut my own hair since an unfortunate incident with dull scissors back in the 7th left me with major hair trauma (and a teeny tine fringe of bangs). I usually get it cut professionally two or three times a year.

My hair is super thick and too curly to be straight and too straight to be curly. I have to be really careful with who I let cut it because they *always* want to layer it, and it's really easy end up with random cowlicks/a pseudo mullet/mushroom head/all of the above if they don't know what they're doing.

I wish I could just let it grow long and thick. Based on the pictures I've seen, I'd love to have Arabella's hair. (Especially her color!)

question #1
none of the above. 8-12 weeks and i get it colored. and then 2 weeks after that, you can see the gray again and i've gotten annoyed with blowing it out. so then it goes up for the remainder of the time until the next cut.

question #2
-Eh - I'm used to it by now, and it's less work than shaving my head.
pretty much!

but recently, i discovered this stuff, specifically the oil. A bit pricey, but it takes my drying time from 20 to 10 minutes, i only have to use one styling product instead of 3-4, and my hair feels and looks better than it ever has before. we'll see what happens when the humidity hits, but so far, i'm pleasantly surprised!
