Yes, Ennis's basic philosophy is "if it makes you feel good, go for it!" as long as nobody gets hurt. And he doesn't want to hurt Jack.

I think he wanted to make sure Jack knew it was okay that he was gay. And probably he'd figured out that that's where the discussion was heading, so was somewhat braced.

So he responded quickly, but then took some time to think about it.

Oh, Ennis, the king of denial! Well, I'm glad Jack told Ennis he thinks he's gay, and that Ennis doesn't care. Very interested to see what happens next. Thanks so much

yayayay! they are making progress. now i'm ready for more more more! but i will wait and trust it all to work out in its own sweet time. i'm glad they talked, and their "I love you's" were so sweet! i look forward to finding out what happens next. :)
