How in the world have I not read this story before? I have spent the past two hours reading all five chapters and I am officially blown away at how powerful, deep and rich this story is.

I like the fluffy fic, but I lean more towards deeper and darker fic. This is a show that has undercurrents of real darkness to it that I wish it would explore a little more (yeah, yeah, yeah I know it's a sitcom).

The backstories for Penny and Sheldon are fabulous and I wish they were canon. I can't wait for Chapter 6.

Fluff has it's place, you're right, but I also love me some fic that's not afraid to get its hands dirty, and since there was a bit of a void there for BBT fandom, we decided to fill it ourselves.

And some of the best darkfic I've read is for sitcoms. As long as the characters are there, it's doable.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read up on the chapters, and hopefully you're stick around for 3.06, which should be up before too long.

Every new chapter of this story breaks my heart a little more. This Sheldon, who feels so hurt and betrayed and confused and angry, who has such terrible childhood memories, who thinks that no one understands him or even cares to try, makes me feel such sadness and pity. It makes me want to shake the other characters and yell at them, "Can't you see what's happening to him? Look harder! Do something!"

He doesn’t know how Penny has wormed her way into the darkest, most hidden parts of him, how she’s become his last, best refuge, but the fact remains: it’s Penny who he’s fled to, and it’s Penny who he needs.

I love how their encounters began because of anger and revenge but have now become something different, something based on the need for comfort and sanctuary. I love that Penny is able to give that to him.

As always, lovely work.

Thank you for noticing. I think the evolution of the relationship (potential, theoretical evolution) is my main draw for this series, and what keeps writing it fun.

Thank you for taking the time to read and review.

Oh goodness, that was, well... hot is not exactly the right word for it. The best way I can explain it is that it was like really good quality dark chocolate. Anyway I am glad this series has been updated and look forward to the next part.

Thank you so much for the review! BRING ME DARK CHOCOLATE! (That is a joke that I am not making at your expense, I promise, so it might not make sense but I had to say it.)

Sorry for the delay with updating (completely my fault) and hopefully the next section will be up pretty soon.

It's OK, on both counts :-)

My own late night thesis writing involves lots of coffee and dark chocolate!

I'm a fluffy sort of person, but I still very much enjoy darker fics! I have to say, I think all of you have absolutely nailed what's been going on with Sheldon since the Arctic! I know it's a sitcom and all, but what the guys did to him was unbelievably cruel and I have been finding it hard to believe that Sheldon would just "forgive" them like he did. This messier Sheldon is exactly right, in my opinion! :) It's always a treat when I see an update to this.

Sheldon moving on so quickly from the Arctic (within the canon of the show) is something that bothered all of us, and was probably a big motivator in what made us want to write this. That and the fact that we all like dark, twisted, fucked-up fic, I guess.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read and review. I really appreciate it.

There is a hard knot in his throat as he sees their faces, all looking at him with the same expression: not a one of them really understands him.

That has got to be the truth at the bottom of Sheldon, and you expressed it beautifully. I love the way he is falling apart--it makes me sad but it seems very real.

I've been looking forward to this chapter for EVER and you did not disappoint! Thanks!
