in much lighter fare than I've been recently!
I'm doing NaNoWriMo again, as I do - well, every year. :P this year it is teenage superheroes and the dawn of the superhero age! I want to get to know my characters a bit better, so I'd like to do a meme thing with you guys if I can?
Three options!
1) Give me one, two, or three characters and a prompt

Pavati and Terry
The merits of pizza.

“Yeah?” he says, and she raises her eyebrows. “I’m hungry!” he protests. “Teleporting really takes it out of a guy.”
“I thought you said you said your abilities appeared to have no effect on your metabolism?” she says, and he rolls his eyes.
“Fine, I have hollow legs. I’m a growing boy. I need it to work my brain?” He trails off, and Pavati takes pity on him and slides the box in his direction.
“I’ve had all I need, you can finish it off,” she says. “Okay. What do you need me to move?” He gestures to a wardrobe and she frowns at it.
“Think of it as practice for superheroing,” Terry advises, pulling another slice out, and she scowls at him.

“Come here,” she says, pulling Pavati into her arms. “Calm down. Come on, it’s going to be okay.”
“I can’t be a champion,” Pavati nearly sobs, “I don’t want to be in charge of things. I just want to be. Quiet. And happy. And.” Her hands tighten into fists on Andrea’s shirt. “Andy, I don’t want this.”
“Don’t worry,” Andrea says gently, and starts rocking back and forth. “Don’t worry, I’ve got you. I’m going to look after you.”

Prompt: Andrea and Terry, keeping secrets
Question: For Pavati, did the discovery of her powers change her views, whatever they may have previously been, on other supernatural ideas like ghosts, vampires, religious matters, etc?

Pavati's slight skeptical crisis of faith is interesting; it reminds me a bit of Scully's behavior in The X-Files, how seeing so many strange and inexplicable things occasionally made her question her faith, but mostly she just chose to ignore it in favor of concentrating on all the other weird shit going on. The idea of god as a 'sufficiently evolved human' is also highly intriguing.

It was a little for both on Terry's part but mostly for his? He is super uncomfortable with his body, which stems from his deep insecurity regarding his masculinity and being gay. And his method of dealing with problems is to push them away and pretend they don't exist because that's easy and he is pretty much always for the easy route. Sometimes he thinks that he got teleportation because he's such a coward, which leads to him trying really hard to prove he isn't.
In some ways I think this is basically a story about insecurity and courage and learning to live with yourself.

Prompt for Pavati and Andrea. Fireworks.

“Huh. That was a much bigger explosion than I thought it would be,” Andrea says thoughtfully. “I’ll have to try and remember what I did for that one.”
“You just blew up a government building,” Pavati says weakly.
“Yes I did,” Andrea says. “It felt great. Come on, we’ve go to go.”
“You blew up a government building!” Pavati says. Andrea pauses and turns to look back at the firey shell. Her grin is sickeningly proud and pleased.
“God I’m awesome,” she says, and grabs Pavati’s arm. “Terry, come in, we need a ride out.”
“Kaboom,” Pavati mumbles, and Andrea snaps her fingers in Pavati’s face.
“It was empty,” she says. “Breathe, Pavati. Come on. Get out of the crosshairs before you freak out.”
“Right,” Pavati says, and she tilts her head and breathes in and out slowly. “Okay. Let’s go.”

And now for my thoughts: ;A; ANDREA I LOVE YOU. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH.

Okay.
This is a lame question at its root, so I'll try to spice it up:
Andrea, tell me about Pavati's powers and how she feels about/relates to them. Then Pavati the same for Terry, and Terry for Andrea.
