Isn't a flux capacitor just a deus ex machina for the sci-fi genre? They had a big show about those things on one of the sci-fi channels a few hotels ago.

Yeah, yeah, it came from...Journey...to the...Back to the Future, or Journey from...something about going into the past instead of the future...the flux capacitor was involved in this....car. Thing. This mad scientist...whatever, it was an old movie. They just kind of use it now as an easy write-off when something that involves a big spaceship goes awry. That's what the show was talking about.

...Admiral's got a sense o' humor, does he, then?

's a bit absurd. The engine's put together like a puzzle, an' not even well put-together. I'm wonderin' if it was jus' some ridiculous, glorified jigsaw with wires an' such t'keep us occupied while the Admiral did the fixin' at port.

I would welcome the opportunity to put my knowledge of engineering modifications to use.

In the name of organization, mate. Don't want 'em accusin' me of drownin' you in spirits.

Yes, but to mount a successful attack you'd first have to be sober.

Bah! I'll do it next week, then! Cannae very well imagine m'self as sober this week. Not with our nightly bondin' time. I need my drinks.

I would be glad to volunteer to assist you in the engineering room until such a time as I am to help maintain the laboratory. Once a competent caretaker is established for that as well, I would continue to lend aid to both.

If I don't get so much as an inmate volunteer for the maintenance work, y'can be my savior, laddie.
