For my birthday, I decided to go ocean kayaking off the coast of La Jolla (for you Easterners, that's pronounced "la hoya", and is a city north of San Diego). There were some sea caves to paddle in, as well as garibaldi fish and California sea lions to see!

What we have here is the top 106 books most often marked as "unread" by LibraryThing’s users. As in, they sit on the shelf to make you look smart or well-rounded. Many, if not all, of you know that working in customer service (be it retail, food service, whatever) is a fucking drag. So I think I fractured my toe playing with Maddie the other day. It hurt like fuck when I did it, but there was no cracking sound, and it still moves, so I figured it wasn't broken. It looked fine at first, too, but each day it keeps getting purpler, so now I'm starting to worry a little. For some reason, I'm also totally compelled to show it off. ( Read more... )

Ahh, I love hot weather. Love it. Especially when it's not insanely humid. This weekend, the temperatures have been in the 90s. Yesterday I went to the beach. It was a little too cold to go swimming, but I did wade around in the tide pools and lay out in the sun. Ate some potato tacos at a place called Papas Tacos in Laguna.
