Ugh, I had that several times in my life. Horrible. In my case they called it Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV). There's nothing "benign" about it. I had to have physical therapy to correct it. Doesn't seem connected to sodium or water intake, in my case anyway.
I think the rule is one cup water to one cup coffee.

I have Osteopathic Intolerance (the non-benign version). Get dizzy after standing in one place for a few minutes, as blood leaves my head. Need to wave my feet around, or stamp them. Means I sit on the floor if I'm ever in a queue, which has caused a lot of very curious looks, especially when I shuffle on my bum when the queue moves forward.
You should never dilute scotch with anything!!! You SHOULD drink it either surrounded with like minded friends, or sitting in a lounge chair reading a good book.
