Being a lemming and joining Facebook and Twitter (although not completely)

So I signed up to Facebook and Twitter.

As I got in a message from roybear, "Hell has frozen over, it seems. :-)".

No, I am not on it yet and I am not yet using it, and I have no intention of using it at the moment, but when the thing about the facebook usernames came up, I went to stop either Jerry from Indiana or those guys from Italy getting my ( Read more... )

Facebook sucked me in about a year and a half ago. I use it to play games, sometimes with friends or just myself (does that mean I'm playing with myself?). It has been fun to find people from long ago, and to natter with current friends, but there are a heap of applictaions that are just a serious pain. I let them add up until around 100, and then I block most of them. Ho-hum.

Twitter I have signed up for, lemming that I am, but I haven't really figured out what to do with it. It doesn't give you much indication, or give you much in the way of search options. So what is the point?

Anyway, I am sure that you will manage to embrace or reject both sites. I've always admired your abstinence from other sites when you need to buckle down and study. I hope it won't prevent you from coming to NEX this year.

I mentioned this above, but I can't see myself getting excited by the Facebook Platform - I haven't seen any major application that is useful. I will probably end up blocking them all. Facebook for me is about connection - addresses, phone numbers, keeping track of people and easily organise things at the last minute - which I think will serve me well if I keep it to that.

Truthfully, right now I feel like posting to Twitter more than Facebook. I think there's not as big an Australian experience on Twitter though, and I'll probably end up gravitating more to Facebook in time.

Unfortunately, I won't be at NEX this year. Exams on 30th/31st October will pretty much prevent me from doing any of it. It kills me, because I had so much fun last year (and still haven't put any of the photos online - naughty me!).
