Well thank heavens for cordykitten who kindly let me know that I'd been nominated over at harem of spike awards but needed to accept the nomination. Damn work email putting these crucial messages in the spam box!

If he can smoke he can wheeze. If he can drown he can wheeze. If Dru can be knocked out by cutting off her air supply Spike can wheeze. That scene in S1 never made any sense to me. Balloons can't breathe and yet you can use one for CPR.

I blame it on Angel being a drama queen.

hehe so true or maybe Angel didn't fancy doing the cpr. He obvilously hadn't had a practice on resusi-annie for a while.

There is no problem with Spike wheezing, panting, gasping etc...he does so regularly on the show and I agree with someone else above...Angel was just a big drama queen! lol

hehe well i do agree "drama queen" does sum Angel up. Although I'm catching up on bones aty the mo and i kinda love DB when he plays someone jolly he's cute.

Dunno why they had Angel say that, but you can't smoke if you can't breathe, simple as that. Your explanation is actually even better, in the end it's a muscle doing the work, and as long as it is a muscle you can control, why in the world shouldn't it work just like every other muscle?

Hi btw. Always mentioned the review and that you were asking about it, thought I'd add to the reassurances.

Yup just a muscle. I think a more unlikely bodily function for a creature with no circulation would be an erection. But hell if any of us would rob Spike of that.
