I am such a volunteerer.  I just agreed to be MoAS for my local group this week.   It earned the requisite "look" from my Darling Husband.    I have wanted to be an MoAS, but felt that there were more people in the Barony better qualified.    I really want to make Storvik's Arts and Sciences Shine.  I guess the Barony is taking precedence over my

I, for one, and thrilled! Hands on learning is my style, and shoes are a particular interest (but not talent). We can discuss other venues as well, maybe we ca find someplace closer to metro.

Actually we have been using the church where Barony meeting is for A&S night. However when I signed the lease for the church in June I told them we weren't using it that night anymore so I'd have to arrange for us to get it again if you wanted.

Huzzah! I miss A&S night (although I have enjoyed dollmaking with cathgrace and STILL have a long way to go on that project). The key, I think, is to inspire people to try new crafts and practice the skills they already have.

I know there's a lot of problems with people showing up to Storvik's A&S night, so maybe you should try to copy a page from Bright Hills. Whatever meeting or practice or anything that they have, they always bring food. You may have to jump start this yourself at first, but once people get in the habit of bringing a brick of cheese or a box of crackers every time they come, it'll become a pot luck. And food always brings people together. When Salisberie Glen was starting up, I'd do spaghetti dinner to go with A&S night. We got lots & lots of people. Feed them and they will come.
