On being MoAS
I have been very gung-ho this week about being A minister of Arts and Sciences. I love A&S and this has really inspired me. Because I am so laid back about most things, I don't make a fuss about going to events that I want to go to, usually I see which ones my Hubby wants to go to and then just go to those. The Shame
If I write it down, I can admit to the problem and find absolution for my shame.
I have been avoiding posting because I am pissed off at my shoe project. They are just TOO big. Sigh. I am going to have to remake the pattern. I guess its better to learn now than to make a pair of shoes that don't fit. And there really isnt any shame in trial ( Read more... ) -

The Shoes....
Ok, So I cut out the shoe last night and tried it on a little bit. I do not like how the part that wraps around the toes is working. I think I need to change the way the tabs are cut. Also, It is a little too big. I think that is solveable with stuffing. I also used blue camp pad/helmet padding to make a little insole. Very comfy. I need ( Read more... ) -
homemade shoes
Ok, So I started tracing out my shoe pattern on leather today. I am useing vegitable tanned tooling leather, because it is pretty and soft. I also found a supplier for shoe sole glue, so I think I am going to glue a "modern" sole on the bottom of the shoe to protect me from my own clumsyness and proclivity towards injury ( Read more... ) -

Well, I have decided on a style and design. The original design is based on one I found in Ancient Shoes... Or something like that loaned to me by a friend. This style is backed up by a book on anglo-saxon customs. I think two sources, one archeological and the other art historical/ anthropological is enough. Shoes are the keystone to a great medieval recreation outfit. I need to make some shoes. Fortunetly, one of my good friends has loaned me a book called "ancient Shoes" Based on bog finds in Denmark. Well, my pagan anglian lady probably has shoes very much like the ones they wore in denmark.

That Fabric Store....
OK.. So I went in AGAIN. I think they thought I was casing the joint out for a robbery, I spent so much time in there NOT buying stuff. Well I finnally did. I bought 3 yards of GORGEOUS Red Raw silk witha twill zig-zag weave. I would have preferred for it to be made of Linnen, but I will take silk. Guess how much it cost? $25.00!

Feeling good
I have been recieving good feed back about interest in A&S Activitities in Storvik. I think that people need to get into the habit of attending an activity before they pick up momentum.
