I decided on this a long time ago... I will always sacrifice myself for others if it calls for it. That's the sort of choice a superhero has to make.

Commendable. Not many would say so straight away, and then be willing to go through with it.

Just what I do.

As a hero.
You sound almost like a female version of Keiichi.

... Already made the choice.

As many did, in this place. So, how did it turn out for you? In a way that caused regret?

Don't know. Probably never will.

Oh, I see. That is a shame.

I'd sacrifice my own life for the people I cared about...but to get out alive? One random person.

If so, you are indeed like most living in this place. With the exception that most build up a facade, pretending they could never hurt others for their own sake.

I set people on fire for a living; I can't even try to pretend I wouldn't do that.

Quite an interesting occupation. A soldier, I take it?

A random person.

No reason to have one I trust yet, and such sacrifices were necessary in my world as well.

beatssuperpaper March 28 2010, 10:50:22 UTC
Oh, that must have been an interesting world.

It was fairy violent and dangerous if that's what you mean.

Among other things, I was refering to that possibility, yes.
To some, 'May you live in interesting times' may be a curse. To others, the curse is the threat of the opposite.

I could sacrifice someone in order to get home. But I would want to choose who it was.

As far as to save everyone else in, say, the world... I would sacrifice the one I love before I would sacrifice myself.

Then again, sacrifice is usually just the "noble coward's" way out.

What if you couldn't choose, and if it could be anyone - those you respect, just like those you wish were dead?

As for the sacrifice - what makes you say that? The implication that self sacrifice is simply one way to run away from the consequences and fallout of the struggle?

My decision would depend on the situation, in that case. It would be tactical.

Self-sacrifice and martyrdom can actually be problematic in a situation like this. Easily misunderstood and misconstrued. People can be stupid animals, after all.

Oh, that people are animals is something they demonstrate quite often in this town, judging by how easy the town has it to manipulate some into killing others.
