people make me so sad sometimes, ya wonder what motivates 'em.
what depresses me even more is that this will just be used as another 'card' to 'keep fighting the war on terror' and shelling more and more money into war. starving in africa, heard of them? yeah. why don't we start pitching some of that war money their way.
I agree to an extent. However I also I think certain groups can only be defeated through force. I'm no expert, but I believe terrorists prey on the weak.
so you invade their lands, kill their families, blow up the mosques, show brute force and that's supposed to cow them?
;)
i think it'd just piss 'em off even more.
then again, i don't get that mentality. but really, when it boils down to it are they fighting for anything different than what we are? freedom, independence, their nation/people.
brings up all the good questions, one reason i love 'v for vendetta' (antihero who overturns a corrupt government by dealing out vengence by violence) because it questions just what is due cause for bringing the end to tyranny and injustice and corruption.
I'd agree that many in the arab and muslim worlds have legitimate grievances with the U.S. We've supported a lot of bad governments over the years in the name of "stability", because they were our dictators and not someone else's. There are legitimate ways of expressing those grievances however, and blowing up civilians is never one of them. Once someone crosses that line, the only way to deal with them is through force, because its the only way to be sure you get them before they get you
( ... )
(Don't get me wrong, I think it is a tragedy that a group of people think they have to resort to bombing the people of a nation just to get our attention and/or for them thinking they are fulfilling some religious cusade. But on the other side I think the "warning" system we have in this country is a joke to incite fear into the population. I think I'm turning more and more Libertarian every year. :( )
