...breast implants are unessasary for young girls and teens, and any woman who feels pressure to succumb to the impossible ideals of beauty set by today's standards. You know, I really dislike people blaming the media for their insecurities when it comes to personal value and appearance. There has always been the ideal looks or some group standard of what physical beauty is. Our perception of what looks good and what doesn't is influenced by our environment, the society we live in, etc etc. It always has and will be. But it doesn't take away poersonal responsibility. Some people are more self-absorbed and spend too much time devoted to vanity ( ... )

Our society is clearly obsessed with breasts. For instance, an unattractive girl can be seen as attractive if she has big breasts. You can argue that breasts are sexually arousing and that is why men are attracted to them... but in some cultures, breasts aren't considered to be sexually arousing at all.

I think the message we are getting from society is that breasts, particularly big ones, are the most desirable. We see movie stars, models, and porn stars who are skinny and have huge breasts (often because of breast implants), and that is not what an average woman look like.

No, big breasts just pull the attention away from whatever characteristics make her unattractive. It's like a distraction or a way to add to one's looks, but it doesn't make a person attractive. It helps balance out the body, give it curves, etc. ...But it can also make a figure look like it's heavier or thicker than it really is. Especially is the breasts take up a good half of the front of the torso.

Like these women aren't unattractive because they don't have large racks. This woman's cup size got smaller when she lost weight, but she still looks better when she's in shape. There are various women in fitness and fashion magazines who have small cup sizes, but they're still good looking.

Sometimes even if a star has at least an average cup size, the photo will be of the backside, in order to show off the back and butt (ex here and here. So perhaps being in shape and having a good-looking ass has precedent over big boobs ( ... )

I think she meant to state that from society's POV. In society, it does *seem* that bigger breasts make you more attractive, but really, I don't feel they do. Like you said, they just pull the attention from what ever characteristics make her to be considered 'unattractive'. Therefore, it's not the breasts that are making her atrractive, it just might get her more attention, even though I don't feel that is right .. but whatever.

I think you misunderstood what I meant. I'm not agreeing that large breasts make a woman more attractive. I'm just saying that some men in society will consider a woman to be "hot" just because she has a nice rack, even if she has an ugly face. I've encountered many guys who are like that. I've also seen girls who were considered to be plain janes, but after they got implants and dyed their hair blonde, they're instantly "hot" in the eyes of many.

Culture has influence on behavior, but ultimately it comes down to individual choice.

I think that getting breast implants is stupid; I won't inflict that on others. If other women want to get them, more power to them. Maybe they have self-esteem problems, they are probably different reasons for different women that get them, other than wanting bigger boobs. Physicians should fully educate any woman interested in them so they know the risks involved.

Breast implants should only be allowed for fully grown women, obviously. Teens may not be fully developed yet and should wait until they are fully grown.
