Suck it up

In high school I ran cross-country and track. I remember liking all of my coaches, but there were a couple I truly loved. Coach Edwards instantly comes to mind. Every day after school, Coach Edwards met us on the track wearing a royal-blue windbreaker and too-short shorts (no offense, Coach). My teammates and I never knew what Coach had in ( Read more... )

I needed to hear this today. I've been sour because my writing time had been minimal the past two days, and so when I sat down to write today, I felt a disconnect from my story and the voice of my main character. Despite this, I made myself write, even though there were voices in my head chanting, "This stinks." Anyway, I just need to get over it. :)

Good for you for finding time anyway! I feel that way often. By the time I sit down to write at night, I'm exhausted, and all I want to do is watch a movie. Or, you know, sleep :)

Becca thanks for sharing. I'm waiting for my very first editorial letter and I have no idea what's coming. I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I'll keep "suck it up" in my back pocket and pull it out when I need it. *grin*

This is such an amazing thing to say. In the past couple if weeks I've had a bit writer's block and of course I'm in the middle of writing a novel! (Okay, I only call it that because my teacher taught me to say "novel" instead of "book".) But in those weeks I kept telling myself, "After homework think of a good statement and go from there." That's how most of my stories start: a single statement. And now I'm back to writing my "novel". So thank-you for the PEP TALK! I'll always make sure that I have a "suck it up" with me!

I'm going to take your advice since I'm about to start a new book: it all starts with a single statement. Thanks!

Oh where to begin ext_433374 February 18 2011, 05:54:42 UTC
My brick wall has been building itself higher and higher since August. There always appears to be something hindering me from moving forward. At the moment it is time, as all other aspect in life at the moment, swallow what little time I have. Looking forward to the day I CAN suck it up.

Anyway, good luck on the editorial letter. I hope three is charm, and I'm sure that Crescendo will turn out extraordinary magnificent!

Have a great weekend.

Thanks, Nina. There are definitely times in life when writing takes the back burner. Here's to hoping you can get back to it soon!
