What else, so bold, is plain in sight?
What has such citrus taste un-slight?
Which fruity entity, so round,
Pleases all victims it has found?
What juicy body, sharp and sweet,
Has appearance both plain and neat?
Why, oranges! Oranges, they are,
Fruit pleasing mouths near and afar.

First. I hate to concede, it's really not me,
But I'll let escape from my lips one final plea:
Please, time, oh please, change not to and fro,

It used to make me anxious when she cried.
I felt as if her weakness, in my eyes, were justified.
In those days I was callow, naive, knowing not her strife,
But now I recognize her tears that summate thorough life.

I almost found Happiness
On an empty afternoon
As I was unassuming,
Humming something, a sad tune.

The simple things, which we can neither regain, nor fulfil,
Despite their charm, defy our thoughts, our feelings, and our will
Because the mind, once old enough, ceases, desists its plight
To imagine that which we know, rather than think by sight.
