Not to be redundant or anything, but there are (sorry, arrrr) a lot of pirates in Seattle. The day before yesterday, I saw a whole boat full of them driving down 45th, and then today I saw one on campus, sitting on the grass and reading. I just think it's a little excessive, that's all. And by excessive, I mean weird.

Ok.

These are ok:
"I've been here awhile." "I've been here for a while."
"I like that a lot."

These are not ok:
"I've been here for awhile."
"I like that alot."

Also, awhile means for a while, so you wouldn't say "I did that awhile ago."

However, fuck stodgy grammar.

Today I read a book called Bright Lights, Big City by Jay McInerney. I dug it for the most part, except for that some of it was not as developed as it could have been.
