On Wednesday I arrived in the US and after one slightly worrying moment when the visa people escorted me off into a small windowless room, it has all gone well. So far I have:
Watched the Super bowl
Gathered air potatoes
Removed a dead roach from my house
Been slightly sunburnt

What is an air potato?

It is a non-native invasive species of plant. They look a little bit like potatoes and hang from vines. They are meant to be toxic so you can't eat them. Every year the city calls on volunteers to come and clear them and then they give you lunch and a t-shirt. It was a really good event, almost 1,000 people came to help.
