Yay, another update - thank you! I'm enjoying the slow unfolding of your story and the way that the winter cold is continuing with no let-up, while the atmosphere between the two of them is gradually thawing. And I can't get enough of the dialogue...

i started half-reading this and then decided to watch the eagle since i haven't seen it... and wow. halfway through and damn they did not make it hard to slash those two. now i'm looking forward to reading the rest of this. :)

Christ, woman, this is getting better and better - and the writing, as always, fabulous. The tuning fork line rang very true (yes, yes, sorry); loved the bonding over the grappa - and your version of the father speech, gah.

And am looking forward to some jealous and possibly confused Marcus as Janice's sister enters the ring (poor girl - I fear she's in for a disappointment of huge proportions)

That guilt-ridden wank at the end, btw? HOT.

SO glad Marcus is determined to be friends, and I'm sad that Esca is so ashamed of himself (although understandable, particularly given the time period). Looking forward to hearing Marcus's side of things, and learning more about him as a character - that said, I think this is wonderfully paced, I'm just curious and eager.
