There were once again many great fics on offer in this year's spn_j2_bigbang; this was the first one I managed to claim. I was inspired to try some magical animation. I was happy to learn the author didn't mind not having J2's faces in the storybanner, so I could experiment with the image of the tree I had in my head. This is what happened...

Wow. I had no idea how the animation of the tree worked. I ignorantly thought it was some magic digital software creating the leaf effect, only to learn it was a painstaking process of little cut-out leaves and tweezers. Amazing. And I loved the horse. The author's words may have guided how the horse was to look, but your interpretation is fantastic. I especially appreciated you sharing your sketches and the cut-out layering. I have no words bigger than wow. Possibly the distressed Black Cat Mercantile sign is my favourite though. :)

What gorgeous artwork! I guessed it was you the moment I saw the black cat banner and I was a bit disappointed that for some reason, none of the rest of the art except the horse sculpture made it into the story. I thought 'but this is beelikej, surely she has done tons of art!' - well, you did, and it's lovely. The little animated trees are so pretty, and you've taken so much time to get them just right; the horse looks very driftwoody and proud; but my favourite is the big display with the tree, the shop sign and the door, which somehow looks so magical the way you've put those loops and whorls into the glass. It was an amazing story and it needed some really special art to do it justice, and yours definitely does <3

Aaaahw, thank you so much for your kind words:) It's always great to get a comment on old(er) artposts and reminisce about the proces. I had a lot of fun playing with this one. I love that you find the door magical, because I remember being thrilled with the paper effect and worrying it might not come across on the photo. Your comment brought a big smile to my face, I'm gonna roll around in it for a while <3<3
