1. why not? you are quality dude.
2. oh man, the songlet you wrote that i used to force you to play on my guitar like every single night. so good.
3. your mom makes the best tortilla i have ever tasted. that's a fact about your mom, though. okay, you are the most talented bass player i have met.
4. man, when i met you, you were pretty skinny and not terribly muscular, but a couple months of crew and the next time i saw you i was like WTF?! of course you're like, way huger than that now. but still. i have lots of great memories of you that are more exciting than the size of your muscles, but that's the first memory. what can i say.
5. for no reason, my friend, i now declare that you remind me of Goku from Dragonball Z. you don't, actually, but i am declaring it, and thus it is so.

1. i was very interested in what you typically had to say on dumbrella, so i was like "yes, let's lj friend her, shall we?" this wasn't that long ago. i am lazy with lj.

I would love to answer those questions for you, but I've kind of posted enough personal information on the Internet. I did not grow up on a Mennonite reserve; there's no such thing. I did grow up in Mennonite country and my elementary school was 50% Mennonite, but I am not even slightly Mennonite. I am not sure where I ever would have mentioned dancing... Personally I just don't dance because I do not often get the opportunity and if I did I would have no idea what to do. I believe many conservative religions feel that dancing leads to sex and therefore it is bad.

For more specific information I would rather converse in private, if you are seriously interested.

1. i feel like i didn't know you had an lj for a while, and then when i found out i was like, "oh, oops" and friended you. i used to read your old blog frequently.
2. i associate you with orchestral music. both classical and modern, i guess. from beethoven to ligeti.
3. for me, you embody a level of scholarship, and a level of dedication to scholarship, that i could never quite attain.
4. my first memory of you is the picture of you with long hair in a halloween costume long ago. it's the first picture i saw of you, and i believe i saw it even before i joined dumbrella.

6. do you prefer to live on the east coast or the west coast? you strike me as an east-coaster, temperamentally, and yet you seem fairly happy to be in los angeles. i know you've spent a fair bit of time on both coasts.

it was on dumbrella that i saw the photo, i just hadn't registered yet and wasn't reading it regularly.

academic achievement is not the same as academic attainment. i may have finished my master's degree, but my temperament isn't what earned it for me. you know what i mean? you're just so very literate.

ooh, that CFS work is quite secretive... funded by wealthy old men and staffed with barnard interns. i couldnt possibly go into the details in so public a forum. I will email you soon.
