Last sail?
Sunday afternoon, Jamie and I went for what I think will be our last sail on Mau Ke Mana. It was bittersweet! Holy Stickershock Batman! I got our Calvert catalog: for our first year out (preschool, 1st grade, 4th grade) we'll spend $1685 for basic, core curriculum. This climbs annually (1st, 3rd, 6th will set us back $2215. No, wait, we'll *save* by "reusing" material...make that $1915 ( Read more... ) -
How could I forget?
Must add to the personal to-do list: SCUBA. Think we'll want to participate in DAN (www.diversalertnetwork.org), and SCUBA will be extremely useful (e.g. dive on anchor, work on bottom) as well as add another facet for enjoying cruising. -

I know how to give an orange an injection, and suture a pork belly. Or at least I had a hands-on trial with each! Net/net, the medical training was fantastic. Makes me feel much better about what we'll be able to cope with (what *I* will be able to cope with) if necessary ...a lot.
