Royal Melbourne Show

I must admit I am not a fan of the Royal Melbourne Show, loud and expensive. So as you can guess I have been putting it off to take Callum to the show.

We parked at Flemington racecourse and lined up for 1/2 hour to purchase entry tickets. Next time I will buy them through Ticketeck.

Callum was extremely excited once he saw the rides. He went on ( Read more... )

Yes you can do it here. I just didn't do it for two reasons.
1) Didn't have the money at the time.
2) Every Ticketek had people lining up for Grand Final tickets.

I've never been to the show, not sure if its worth it (how much does it cost ?), but i think taking pics of animals and sideshows might be fun.

I haven't been to The Show myself since 2004....either because I couldn't Afford it, as I was Unemployed, or I was Working, and was just Too Tired to go, or merely had better things to do (like doing the stuff I didn't get the Time to do during the Week, like Grocery Shopping)

When I *did* go, I didn't go for The Rides as they're not my scene

Nope, I usually went to see a few of the Attractions, and getting a few of the Show Bags :-)

Tickets, by the way, were also Available at Flinders Street Station, and Safeway (which is now Woolworths in most areas, as it has started changing the Name here)

I've thought about going again, but it's getting *way* Too Expensive, and I'm probably not really missing out on much by not going, I'm sure

The Show used to be a regular yearly school excursion for me. Then I didn't go for years. But about ten years or so back I went with a friend, a camera and a zoom lens, and it was great fun taking shots of the 'superdog trials', people on rides, skateboarders, animals and the big parade in the arena. It certainly is colourful, and great for people-watching.

But boy, is it expensive these days. Especially for families, who are gonna have to pay for rides and showbags on top.

I went to the Showgrounds for a procon earlier this year and was astonished at how much they'd changed. Have most of the rides and kiddie attractions been updated in the last few years, I don't recognise the ones in your pics
