Only a matter of time

...Quick poll for people.

If I say, "Next Weekend", does it imply the upcoming weekend or the weekend after?

I'm curious to know what people think.

If it is currently the weekend? It is definitely the weekend after.

If it is a weekday it can be ambiguous. But mostly I'd say it is still the weekend after.

The weekend after. This weekend is the closest one or the one currently happening.

The weekend after. If you are talking about the weekend coming up immediately it's usually "this weekend."

I agree with the others. This weekend is the current one coming up, 'next weekend' is the weekend after. Unless it's Monday and then it can be tricky.

What day of the week are you saying it? I think that makes all the difference. I think it is also relative depending on how close the current upcoming weekend feels to you.

I believe that the only days that would make it strange are saturday and sunday. every other day is functionally identical
