As always, your writing is beautiful and moving. I loved the way you approached this, the set up, and the psychological realism. The open ending felt very right ;)

Thank you. I thought it would be disappointing to completely ignore the details of how and why Neal was taken from NY end ended up at a prison in some unspecified location. It felt like cheating. But it was soooo liberating to only focus on the "fun" parts!

I feel like anything I could say about this story would be damning it with faint praise--it was truly amazing, and heart wrenching. The clear love, friendship and care that both El and Peter are willing to lavish on Neal is so realistic. The ending was so sweet--not a quick fix, but hope for the future. So many great lines--like when Peter says that 'chased Neal Caffrey' would make a fitting epitaph, and his remark that Neal is having his nightmares when he dreams he steals something. I truly enjoyed every word--couldn't stop reading in spite of dozens of other things requiring my attention. Thank you.

Thank you. I'm blushing from all the praise this story has been getting, because writing it was pure self-indulgence. I'm glad you enjoyed it and sorry for keeping you from all those other things you had to do!

Beautiful and heart-wrenching

[Taking a deep breath, Peter pours a liberal amount of disinfectant onto the first patch of the infected area, catching the excess with a towel.]

Interestingly enough, hydrogen peroxide is not a disinfectant, it doesn't kill bacteria. What it does is oxygenates a wound, helping it to heal faster and the body to fight the bacteria better.

Thanks for the insight. I'm sure everything I write is rife with medical and other inaccuracies that I'm too lazy to properly research.

Glad you liked the story.
