Oh Mary definitely deserves the irritation, if not more. I enjoyed working with the idea of Sam not being happy with his parent no matter which one it was, since often times in the "Mary survives" fics, people pull a brotherly role reversal. . . .

And hey, the evil cliff hangers had to come in at some point, right?

Of course Mary is hurting and feeling guilty, not to mention unsure how to talk to Dean - and she's taking the Dean way out by shutting up and being snappy with Sam. Sam can see through that in one second flat! I'm glad Sam found out about Samuel and Deanna, too. But Dean! Missing! Oh noes! Must have more fic!

I find Mary thinking that Dean looks like John interesting, because I think they look nothing alike, but they behave and move in very much the same way, so it must be very familiar to her. Sam, of course, looks more like John and is more like him in personality, but has a very different demeanour. Someone who didn't know John well would think that Sam was the one who would remind Mary of her husband.

Heh. I based that statement partially on images I've seen of a young JDM -- who actually looks a fair bit like Jensen. ;D Interestingly enough, young Jim Beaver bears a rather amusing resemblance to Jared. . . .

I had a lot of fun playing with familial similarities in my characterization of Mary in this, as well. I'm glad you enjoyed it, and no worries, I'll hopefully have more pretty soon.
