So, I've held off commenting on this while I tried to figure out what to say. I've really, really enjoyed this verse bringing on the tragedy. And, you know what, the tragedy never let up and then you add wee!Dean thinking his father's death is all his fault all his life 'cause he wanted a glass of milk. Just, yeah. Oh the angst and mainpain that piles up but never gets over the top or dull or old.

I can't remember if I read all this at once or not but I did love it. That scene in Bobbys yard is so what I wanted to happen in the show for the boys to huddle together like that :( you wrote it beautifully and I gotta say I hated Mary for what she did to Dean, and not just him, but to Sammy too, its hard to see someone you believed was a hero fall, even harder when that person is a parent.

I wanted Sam to shout at Mary, and he did, he said all the things that she needed to hear, the fact that she still believed what she did was right?? well that just makes her an idiot I guess, or maybe I should pity her for believing the lie she fabricated. She must have known what she had condemmed Dean to when she went back and visited, even if it was from the shadows. Great fic honey x

Thanks. One of the things I wanted to do with this series was bring Mary down off her pedestal, which it appears I have accomplished.

The characterization was really what drove this whole fic forward -- it sprung from wanting to spin on an old trope of Mary raising Sam and Dean the "right" way if she were the one to have survived.

Then getting to dig into the many, many other ideas was sort of icing on that cake.

And thanks. I did a lot of research into ASL and spent a lot of time weighing out the various ways that voiced individuals would react to Dean. I'm glad that it rang true.
