you undoubtedly have an ear infection; they often affect the organs of balance in the inner ear, which is probably what's causing the vertigo. the sore throat is probably part of the same infection. in sum, you need antibiotics.
that is a gorgeous picture of the double rainbow! it looks as if the main bow "touches down" right in the next street over!
The funny part is that the end of the rainbow is the local council estate, not a great neighbourhood, let's just say you'd be unlike to find a pot of gold there!

Oh, dear! You know I have the mumps, right?
But what you have hurts much worse. I know because I've had it.
Dear Marmotte, you have my total sympathy, and were there not an ocean of ocean between us, I would bring oceans of soup!
Seriously, do you have a hot water bottle or heating pad or hot sock* you can put on your pillow and lay your left ear upon? It will help, I swear. Poor baby! Earaches hurt so much!
As if you didn't have enough mobility trouble without vertigo, too.
*a kind of long bag filled with flax seed which you microwave and then put on your back or neck or feet for moist heat

Thanks ankh, I've given the heat thing a go with a hot water bottle. Unfortunately I'm no stranger to vertigo, having been plagued with it since labarynthitis struck me back in August 2005. This headrush dizziness seems to be connected with low blood pressure, which is to be expected if I've got some low grade ear/throat infection going on. It's going to make my physiotherapy appointment tomorrow rather interesting!
It's horrendous. I'm like you, barely any sleep here either. The noise is bad enough but the wind was so strong it was forcing air into the airbricks and under the floor, making the floorboards lift my bed up and down all night. Very unsettling! Looks like it is set to continue too :(
Yikes are we going to get snow too? We had some horizontal sleet showers today but it did all melt soon after it fell. The wind is just horendous and getting worse again now.
