I heard froma friend of mine who is from Alaska that alot of Alaskans hate her and also that she got ..oh wait I think this is the same story. I think the police chief was fired because he was getting a divorce from Palin's sister and she had him fired.

so we crucify the mayor for appointing a guy who opposed 1 bill (doesn't say SHE opposed it just the guy she appointed) without knowing any of his other credentials? If we are going to hate people for a bill that someone in their political totem pole opposed is there a single candidate that we can like? If you want to say she is anti-abortion so I don't like her fine, if you want to say she is a Christian so I don't like her fine, but don't go off on her for something someone she appointed said.

most of the time, i would agree with you ... however, this particular stance is one i find so completely horrifying and infuriating that i can't help trace it back to the source. i have a hard time believing that this man would publicly denounce the bill without first consulting with the mayor, and in the aftermath she said or did nothing to indicate that his views did not represent her own.

personally, i do like Palin because of her political stances. yes, her abortion stance is one of them (although her being christian is not). she supports oil drilling in Alaska rather than alternative fuel research, fought against putting the polar bear on the endangered species list, and is a member of the NRA - for starters. I could go on, but i know there's no point, this is one of our "agree to disagree" areas. so, yes. i don't like her for her politics. i am HORRIFIED that she appointed someone willing to charge women for rape kits, and although it is him quoted and not her, she did nothing to indicate she did not support him on the

All your points why you don't like her are perfectly fine. The fact that you are horrified by something he said AFTER he was appointed about a law that changed AFTER he was appointed and therefore omg SHE LIKES to make women pay for their rape medical costs she is the devil is a wtf moment. It was a local report about a small bill change, there is no reason for the mayors office to play damage control because of a stupid remark made by a police chief. They have bigger problems. I mean if we're going down the let's fry the candidate for everything anyone they ever knew said then lets fry Obama for being an anti-American racist that supports terrorist activities. As a scientist you should have better logic skills than to jump from he said so she must believe it. I can't wait till November is fucking over.

it all comes down to responsibility. if i publish something then Pam, as my adviser, is responsible for its content. a mayor of a small town is responsible for the police chief- he reports directly to her. so why is she not responsible for his political stances and something he in essence publishes, not as an offhand comment, but something he went on record in a public interview as saying? it's not so much a comment that he made about a small town matter either - it's a stance he took by opposing a state-wide bill.
