Woke up this morning to the news that a childhood friend of mine died in a motorcycle accident--his 27th birthday was a month from now. Thanks for the well wishes. The father had a nervous breakdown and had to be hospitalized. Very sad.

It is always tragic when a young person dies. Letting someone you love/loved them is never a waste of time.

I'm very sorry for the loss of your friend.

Thank you for your words.

I miss our old Rurouni Kenshin role play game. *sigh*

I hate to hear about such a tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with your friends family and also with you. I know how it feels to loose someone close... again I am so sorry for your loss.

When I was reading your entry I was thinking of the same poem and then you mentioned it. It is true that in these times is when those words are all the more meaningful.

Yeah, there's that poem about the footsteps in the sand and also one about roses. The roses one my grandmother had a paperrose on her refrigerator and a little memo with it saying 'i'd rather have a little rose now than a truck load when i'm dead.'

I thought about that poem at her funeral over and over and still today whenever I visit her grave.

I appreciate the prayers greatly!

The good news is that Adam had a real change in his life after Jackie's death. Things were going well. He'd just gotten into a relationship with the girl he'd been in love with since he was about 5 years old, had a job interview he was really looking forward to, and was clean and sober.

His mom said that the day he died he'd had a really good day--probably one of the best in a long, long time.

So that's some comfort at least.
