I'm camped out in in Chicago's Union Station right now, and very excited to have net access after spending the last several days on a train. It's still a couple of hours till my next train departs, and I am savoring some Jamba Juice - positively decadent and deliciously fresh, compared to the food I brought along and the food available on board.  ( Read more... )

I ran across this science-themed collection of tattoo photos tonight, and some of them are darn cool.  There's a picture of someone with a glottal stop inked on a finger...and a woman got her name tattooed on herself in ASCII....and a neuron diagram on someone's foot....ok, I'll stop now.  Enjoy.

Few things are quite so motivational as the large number of holidays that have happened already this year.  You know - all those holidays that my company chooses not to observe.

It feels like such a rip-off, somehow.   School, with its TWO Presidents' Day holidays (well, while I was growing up, anyway) did not adequately prepare me for this.

I got some sad news yesterday.
It was about someone else's pet, but you know how these things are....

my late father's cat had to be put down last week.  she was in pain.

I'm done with the worst of my moving chores, at last!  I rented myself a wonderful little apartment, too, and got another year older (I always like to celebrate having survived another year, although this year's celebration was a little lacking due to exhaustion.  I'll have to find ways to make up for that!)
