man, sometimes, self-awareness sucks the big one, and not in fun ways. all the dominoes in my life just want to fall at once. but they take forever to do it - like one of those slow-mo nightmares.

on my way home tonight, i saw a woman named lisa who used to work in my building. lisa had been in a car accident that injured her brain and made her mentally slow. whenever i saw her, she always greeted me by name in cheery tones, and there she was, standing on the side of the freeway exit with a sign begging for food. she did not recognize me ( Read more... ) -
in love with a strict machine
i've dismissed the idea of having an insulin pump for years, 90% of which was due to fear (more on that under the cut) and 10% due to the cost. insulin pumps cost $6000, only 1/2 of which is covered by insurance.

I haven't had THIS kind of fun since I was in junior high.
i hadn't had my eyes checked in a million years (and by a million, i mean at least eighteen. i think i was fifteen years old the last time i got my eyes checked.) both my parents wore glasses, and even better, i am a longtime diabetic. clearly, once i got vision insurance, it was well past time to remedy this situation - so i waited a few years ( Read more... )
