Once again, I like the poetic feeling of your story... I only manage that when I concentrate... Further proof, I guess, that I am more the Holmesian type ;)
Beautiful and indeed, melancholic, this little ficlet.
BTW, did you know that "Alba" is an ancient name for England/a region of England, besides meaning "dawn"? ;)

No, I didn't know! Romans reached the Island, in fact...
By the way - would you like to enter the holmes_ita community? We have some nice prompts, and you could post in English as you always do.
We would be glad to have you there *_*

I could surely join the comm, if you don't mind me posting in English... Maybe I'll watch for a while, and then decide whether to join. :) Thanks for the invitation!
As for Alba, it's not Latin in this case, but Scottish-Gaelic for Scotland. It's pronounced like this [ˈaləpə] if that helps you... It's no use for me. ;) And Romans never quite made their way into Scotland... Stopping at the Hadrian's Wall. :)
I keep using that icon today... I wonder why that is! ;)
BTW, we had a discussion about a fic idea in comments to one of your stories once... Something about Mycroft, I believe? Do you still know where it is? Now that the Riders are all typed, I have time for small prompts...

And sure, I remember about the idea you had *_____* I was hoping you would have some time to develop the prompt, one of these days! *is happy* You can find the thread HERE, if I am not mistaken. *claps hands cheerfully*
By the way: wonderful icon :P
