Years ago when I used to work in the RPG industry and went to GenCon regularly, I *always* took the stairwells rather then getting on an elevator at the con.

Yes, it really can be that much of a problem.

I seriously just don't get it.

(Admittedly, I have a lot of allergies so showering every day is pretty much mandatory for me, so maybe it's sort of a basic paradigmatic difference or something, but...really. Showering. It feels good and it makes you smell nice. What's not to like?)

I agree, but there are those who don't! I have a close friend who showers as little as she can get away with, which generally means every few days. She just doesn't really like getting wet. Luckily, she's got a good sense for when she needs to, and she does. Combine that occasional "water doesn't feel good" gene (or conditioning, or whatever) with the lack of societal graces pixel39 mentions (the "I don't really care" gene?) and you've got crowds of stinky.

Not just youth. Some of the ...Mature congoers also have a more casual approach to hygiene. It's not just the youth.
