The Eaters

It's like being a little girl at one of those interminable dinners that grownups have. The table is miles long, room enough for everyone you've ever met and a few you can't even name, and they're all eating. For some reason this reminds of 'Labryinth.' The scene where that old witch woman kept giving Jennifer Connelly one thing after another. But this is far darker, far more sinister....kudos.
Odd reading this...a bit hungry now and getting all acidy in the stomach...

I lost a few address as of late, what is yours? You need pretty postcards from Europe!

The imagery in this is fabulous, but oddly enough, it created in me a sense of supreme joy and amusement - because I instantly thought of "Gregory the Terrible Eater", one of my favorite kids' books.

Computer parts pried apart with claw-crackers, costume jewelry sucked down like oysters on the half-shell PERFECT connotative description. Also, oddly enough, this scene reminds me of work - on a busy day in the ICU when I am running up and down the corridor to chase down supplies, doctors and pharmacists, there are a few patients well enough to eat a real meal and the savory smells are torture when I know it will be an hour or more until I can get away for my own meal. Their meals are the perfect color and caloric balance of protein and vegetables, and it is always disappointing to run down to the cafeteria only to be temporarily sated by dry hamburgers and mushy fries.

Really? Wow. It never ceases to surprise me how people react to things! I remember "Gregory the Terrible Eater", it was one of my favorites when I was little.

You're kidding--good food in a hospital??

I know, crazy right? Well, I won't say it's the best food, but it's not as bad as people make out. Also - EVERYTHING smells divine when you're filled with adrenaline and haven't eaten all day, the taste doesn't always live up to that promise.
