Firefly 1.03, 1.04

“Bushwacked” is not an episode I rewatch. In fact, I think I’ve only seen it twice before. It’s fucking scary and gross and it freaks me out. Watching it again I discovered something interesting: it’s extremely good. ( Reavers ain't men. Or they forgot how to be. )

(Let me try posting this again)

Yes, indeed, "Bushwhacked" is legitimately scary. I agree that River and Simon outside the ship is just a beautiful moment - and I also agree that it makes no sense that the Reavers would have any kind of society of their own.

And your Mal quote from "Shindig" is near the top of my list of fav Firefly quotes, which is a long list. Have you watched the episode with commentary from Jane Espenson, Morena Baccarin, and Shawna Trpcic (I believe that's how the costume designer spells her name)? It's not mind-blowing, or anything, but it's fun.

New wifi giving you issues?

I'm glad you agree about the Reavers not really working as a society. I have a vague memory of them trying to explain it in the movie where Wash most assuredly doesn't die, but I can't really buy it all the same.

I haven't watched any of them with commentary! I need to do that, huh? That quote is Mr. b's hands-down favorite Firefly quote. And one of his favorite quotes of any show, ever. Good times.

(I have no idea what the issues were, but I'm guessing it was actually LJ's fault. Sigh.)

Yeah, despite having owned the DVDs for years and years, Nam and I just got around to starting to watch them with commentary. The Nathan Fillion/Joss commentary on the pilot is pretty great, too. There's one particularly exchange between them that still makes me crack up, every time I think of it.
