I love this! It is the best representation of Sherlock's thought processes that I have ever seen. A perfect prequel!

Oh, Ben. I know you said on your Tumblr that you were letting your inner troll out to play in writing a prequel and not a sequel. And I am sure that you can be a magnificent troll, on occasion. But that day was not today.

Because this was heart-filling. Perfect. How did I not realize that what I desired was a prequel to "Cooperative Principle"?

Join support website for spouses of traumatised soldiers. Read. Process. Ignore discomfort in stomach. Ignore clenching sensation in chest.Oooooooooooh, Sherlock. This story succeeds in making him much more of a poor woobie----realistically and without the slightest bit of schmoop----than I could have ever thought possible. And asking Mike for advice ( ... )

When people demand a sequel with buttsex and I respond with a prequel made of UST, that is trolling. It only applies to a select few, but it still counts.

Re: the penetration fixation. I don't think it's just a younger crowd that focuses on it. I've had readers who have (at other times) mentioned having children who have also put in demands for the buttsexing. I think it's probably more of an exposure thing. What you see is what you expect to keep seeing.

Thanks so much for the thoughtful response. I always appreciate it and wish I could spend more time replying, but I've left just a bit of a backlog build up.

Oh thank you so much for writing this! Oh, it's so heart wrenching and knowing what's going to happen makes it even more painful, poor Sherlock! all that awkwardness and shyness under that cocky arrogance, gah! I understood why he threw John out when he discovered what John had been thinking all along, now it's really, really understandable. You make my heart ache, just a little bit, dammit, it's only a story.

“Does John listen to gossip?”

“I’m almost sure he doesn’t.”

Nooooo why
Sherlock is clearly so far gone it's almost funny, with the effect being that later events are even more devastating. Thank you for sharing this.

This is, man I don't even have proper words for it but I love your Sherlock PoV and love how you can make him fall in love at first sight believably. I never thought I'd be saying that, but here it is, fluffy and heart-wrenching all at once. Amazing.

Weirdly enough, if you think about his ability to learn extreme amounts of information at once about a person, he's surprisingly suited toward love at first sight, provided it's a version of him that's emotionally receptive.
