Well, the tourney was a bit of a bust. The day was in the 80s, sunny, humid, beautiful. I love summer! I lubed myself up properly with sunscreen (sweat-proof SPF 30!) and drank water/Gatorade between every inning, so I tolerated the temps pretty well. Raku night was great fun, very casual and relaxed. I helped out with the firing, mostly by putting lids on the bins in which the pieces cooled and making sure no one accidentally set their pants on fire ( Read more... )

Tonight is the raku firing for my pottery class. In addition to helping with the firing, I have to glaze two more pieces, a pitcher and a little spoon rest. Tonight my retro ashtray and another small piece that will probably end up being a tea candle holder will get raku fired and I'll be able to take them home with me.
