As many of you know, I have a hearing loss.  Well, over the last few weeks I’ve been having problems with the hearing in my left ear.  The sound would fade away until it was practically gone, but would often be back to normal after a day or so.  Except for this last time.  As of right now the hearing in my left ear has been gone for five days.  I

I suppose "like a man" was a bad choice of words. It's hard to explain, but it's like I felt less like a person or less like the person I am. You are right though and I'm working on not feeling that way.

Thank you for the benefit of the doubt. ;) I certainly couldn't ever do what your old shop did. I much prefer to be self-sufficient and I hate getting help from people or organizations, even when it's in my best interest. I may need help in the future, but I promise I'll be honest with it.

Ben, although I am sorry to hear about this latest setback for you -I know you are a hell of a man. You will get through this and come out better on the other side.
I imagine losing one of your senses is frustrating and rather scary at times. But Litechick is right, it does not dictate who you are. Yes, it shapes and molds you to a point, but it also makes you more observant, more in tune with your other senses.

Fortunately, medicine has advanced so much! I am hoping they can find a good solution for you.

We all love you and support you and of course, as if it needs to be said, our opinions will not change of you. You will get through this, and I will keep you in my thoughts.
