I did mention that! In regards to physicians performing defensive procedures to placate their patients, because they're afraid of getting sued. These procedures are expensive and ultimately drive up the cost of medical care.

And double ditto on lifestyle choices. Not sure how they could enforce it without making fat people America's universal enemy (though they really are, lol).

I say, tax the hell out of sugar, sugary and fatty foods. There's no reason why healthy organic food should be more expensive than mass produced junk food.

good points. You are right on regarding the rich and businesses can just go overseas to hire people where it costs a fraction of the salary, no infrastructure costs, no benefit costs and often times a manager included to oversee the worker for you. Sales ppl will likely all be independent contractors paid mostly on commission too, so responsible for their benefits. There will be a backlash and the job market will continue to suffer.

this of course, only applies to sectors that include customer service, and industrial manufacturing. other sectors that include mid/large cap and blue chip companies shouldn't be too adversely affected, as they already offer health insurance benefits to their employees. Middle-high end POS retail sectors shouldn't be too adversely affected either, even with the advent of internet shopping (people still like to have something tangible in their hands before buying it). ie. People may buy pens and reams of paper online, but they're unlikely to buy sneakers or automobiles online ( ... )
